TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia will host a four-nation futsal match dubbed the 4Nations World Series with opponents from Argentina, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.
"I can say now that Argentina, Japan, and Saudi Arabia have all confirmed. We are still sorting out the technicalities like tickets and accommodation. We are also writing to FIFA so that they can recognize the event as Tier 1, etc. Maybe we can also get match points," the chief of the Indonesian Futsal Federation, Michael Sianipar, told Tempo at Park Tower, Central Jakarta, on January 10, 2025.
The association is still preparing all the events, he said, including communication with the venue. The event will be held at the Jakarta International Velodrome and is scheduled to start on January 30, 2025.
The Perindo politician said they plan the tournament to take place according to the FIFA Match Day agenda. Originally, the tournament was scheduled to run from January 27 to February 5, 2025.
"We only expect them to fly on the 27th (of January) and then arrive in Indonesia. Some will arrive on the 28th (of January), they should have arrived in Indonesia. Then because the system is round robin, four countries, so there is a break, there is another match," he said.
The Indonesian national futsal team last appeared at the 2024 AFF Futsal Cup in Thailand from November 2-10. In that championship, the team coached by Hector Sauto went undefeated and emerged victorious.
In the group stage, the Indonesian futsal team defeated Cambodia 9-0, Australia 3-1, and Myanmar 5-1. The Garuda team defeated host Thailand 5-1 in the semi-finals and Vietnam 2-0 in the final.
