TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Iran's aviation authority announced that its airspace will reopen in four phases. The first phase will allow transit flights to resume, followed by flights from airports in eastern Iran during the second phase, state broadcaster IRIB reported on Sunday, April 19.

The third phase will restore operations at Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini airports, while the fourth and final phase will include flights from airports in the western part of the country.

"Airline ticket sales are currently suspended, and people should pay attention to … official announcements for the latest airport status and ticket purchase options," IRIB quoted the deputy director of the Civil Aviation Organization as saying, as reported by Anadolu.

However, IRIB did not provide a specific timetable for the reopening.

Citing the Civil Aviation Organization, Mehr news agency also reported on Saturday, April 18, that flight operations at airports across the nation will be restored in stages, based on the technical and operational readiness of military and civil authorities to resume passenger flights.

On February 28, the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran, and Tehran retaliated with strikes on Israel and other regional countries hosting US assets.

The US-Israel and Iran war has been suspended since April 8, when Pakistan brokered a two-week ceasefire.

Washington and Tehran held talks in Pakistan last weekend to reach a lasting peace, and efforts are currently underway for another session in Islamabad.
