TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Israel Army fired at the town of Kafr Shuba in southern Lebanon with internationally banned white phosphorus chemical weapons, Lebanon's news agency reported on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
No information was provided about damages or injuries.
The government-run National News Agency also said that Israeli forces targeted the nearby town of Al-Qantara.
Israeli fighter jets also carried out an airstrike on the southern outskirts of Beirut, including Haret Hreik, a Hezbollah stronghold.
Separately, Hezbollah stated that its fighters targeted Israeli troop placements with rockets in the Misgav Am settlement in northern Israel and the Ma'ale Golani barracks in the occupied Golan Heights of Syria.
Israel has been conducting a massive air campaign in Lebanon since the end of last month against what it claims are Hezbollah targets. The attacks have killed more than 1,500 people and displaced over 1.34 million. The cross-border conflict between the two sides has continued since the Gaza war last October.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli military strikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least 42,603 Palestinian civilians and injured 99,795, the health ministry said.
