TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council or DPRD Jakarta officially announced the appointment of Pramono Anung and Rano Karno as the elected governor and deputy governor of the Special Region of Jakarta. The announcement of the appointment was carried out through a plenary meeting at the Jakarta DPRD Building on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Pramono-Rano's victory was announced by the Chair of the Jakarta DPRD Khoirudin.
"Through a plenary meeting, the Jakarta Provincial DPRD has appointed the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor of the Special Region of Jakarta Province, serial number 3, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno as the elected governor and deputy governor of the Special Region of Jakarta Province for the 2025-2030 period," said Khoirudin at the Jakarta DPRD Building on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Khoirudin said that after this announcement, the Jakarta DPRD will send a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to appoint the pair Pramono Anung and Rano Karno as the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta.
This announcement is based on the Decree of the General Election Commission or KPU of the Special Region of Jakarta Province Number 9 of 2025 concerning the Determination of the Elected Candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of the Special Region of Jakarta in 2024.
Khoirudin said that the candidate pair supported by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura) managed to win 2,183,239 votes or equivalent to 50.07 percent of the total valid votes.
This total vote exceeded the acquisition of other candidate pairs, namely Ridwan Kamil-Suswono who won 1,718,160 or 39.40 percent of the votes and Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana who won 459,230 or 10 percent of the votes.
Also present at this plenary meeting were Acting Governor of Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi, Chairman of the Jakarta KPU Wahyu Dinata and his staff, and Chair of the Pramono-Rano Transition Team Ima Mahdiah.
The elected governor and deputy governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, were not present at the event. Deputy Chairperson of the Jakarta DPRD Rani Mauliani said that the two were not invited to the plenary meeting because the meeting agenda was limited to an announcement.
Previously, the Jakarta KPU had appointed Pramono Anung and Rano Karno as the elected governor and deputy governor of the Special Region of Jakarta through a plenary meeting at the Pullman Hotel, West Jakarta, on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Pramono-Rano's victory was announced by the Chairperson of the Jakarta KPU Wahyu Dinata after the signing of the minutes by all commissioners of the election organizing institution.
The plenary meeting held by the KPU was also attended by the Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana Abyoto pair. Meanwhile, the pair with candidate number 1 was only represented by Suswono, because Ridwan Kamil was unable to attend.
