TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The water level at the entrance of the Fish Market in North Jakarta, Indonesia, has been raised to alert phase 2 on Monday morning, 12 January 2026, following heavy rain that has poured over most areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi.
According to data from the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency, five administrative areas were hit by moderate to heavy rain. These areas also have the potential for lightning and strong winds.
The observed water level at 05.00 reached 210 centimeters. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency urges several coastal areas to be cautious of potential impacts. "Anticipate areas that are likely to be affected: Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru," as stated in the announcement by the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency on its social media account.
Head of Data and Information Center at the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency, Mohammad Yohan, said the agency is still monitoring flood-prone areas following this morning's rain. Based on preliminary data at 09:00 local time, he stated that no areas have been affected by floods. "Still nil," he said, when contacted on Monday, 12 January 2026.
In a separate report, the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency noted the incident of a fallen tree due to heavy rain and strong winds. This incident occurred on Jalan Kemang Raya, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta.
He mentioned that the fallen tree did not cause any casualties. "No losses, impacts, or casualties," he said. Yohan stated that the fallen tree had been handled by 08.30 and the area at the location of the incident was already cleared.
