
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - More than one million four-wheeled vehicles have returned to Jakarta after the homecoming period of Eid al-Fitr, which fell on March 31, 2025. According to the state-owned toll operator, Jasa Marga, as many as 1,194,225 vehicles entered the region from March 31 to April 5.
The figure is the cumulative traffic flow at four main toll gates. “Cikampek Utama toll gate (from the Trans-Java direction), Kalihurip Utama toll gate and the South Japek II functional toll gate (from Bandung direction), Cikupa toll gate (from Merak direction), and Ciawi toll gate (from Puncak direction)," said Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head of Jasa Marga Lisye Octaviana in a written statement on Monday, April 7.
According to Lisye, the traffic volume returning to Jakarta and its surrounding areas increased by 49.8 percent compared to regular days. Normally, the average traffic volume on the Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Greater Jakarta) toll road reaches 797,033 vehicles.
Jasa Marga underscored the eastern toll roads, from Trans-Java and Bandung, as the busiest routes during the return homecoming travel. In total, there were 662,945 vehicles passing through the toll roads towards the east of Greater Jakarta, or 55.5 percent of the traffic.
From the Trans-Java toll road, the return traffic through Cikampek Utama toll gate amounted to 389,028 vehicles, up 152.3 percent compared to normal traffic volume.
Meanwhile, the traffic returning to Greater Jakarta from Bandung through Kalihurip Utama toll gate and South Japek II functional toll gate reached 273,917 vehicles, or 57.6 percent increase from regular days.
In addition, there were 283,209 vehicles from the westward toll roads of Java Island (Merak), or 23.7 percent of the total traffic volume during the return homecoming travel. Meanwhile, 248,071 vehicles entered Greater Jakarta through the south, or Puncak toll road.
Jasa Marga reported that a total of 2.16 million vehicles left Greater Jakarta during the homecoming season from March 21 to April 1, a 28.1 percent growth compared to regular traffic. As the Eid holiday season approached its end, millions of vehicles started to enter the region.
