Jasa Marga: 993,440 Vehicles Left Greater Jakarta During Christmas and New Year Holiday Period

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. recorded that 993,440 vehicles left the Jabotabek (Greater Jakarta) area from Wednesday, December 18 to Monday, December 23, 2024. This figure is the accumulation of traffic flow from four main toll gates (GT), namely Cikupa GT (towards Merak), Ciawi GT (towards Puncak), Cikampek Utama GT (towards Trans Java) and Kalihurip Utama GT (towards Bandung).

The total volume of traffic leaving the Jabotabek area increased by 15.0 percent when compared to normal traffic of 863,724 vehicles in the same period. When compared to the 2023 Christmas period, the total traffic volume was 9.1 percent lower or 1,093,363 vehicles.

For the distribution of traffic leaving Jabotabek towards the three directions, the majority of 459,560 vehicles or 46.3 percent headed East (Trans Java and Bandung), 310,052 vehicles or 31.2 percent headed West (Merak), and 223,828 vehicles or 22.5 percent headed South (Puncak).

Jasa Marga Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head Lisye Octaviana said that on D-2 of the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays or on Monday, December 23 yesterday, traffic leaving Jabotabek at the four main toll gates was recorded at 157,964 vehicles or an increase of 21.3 percent from normal traffic of 130,258 vehicles.

Jasa Marga also noted an increase in vehicles heading East, namely Trans Java and Bandung on Monday yesterday at the Cikampek Utama GT, as many as 72,778 vehicles, an increase of 39.0 percent from normal traffic of 52,374 vehicles.

"By seeing the increase in the volume of vehicles leaving the Jabotabek area towards the East and South, Jasa Marga ensures that the readiness of Jasa Marga Group's toll road operation services is running optimally. Especially on toll road sections that have the potential to become favorite tourist destinations for road users during long holidays, including the Jakarta-Cikampek and Cipularang Toll Roads for the Trans Java and Bandung directions and the Jagorawi Toll Road for the Puncak direction," said Lisye in a written statement on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

The details of traffic distribution are as follows.

East Direction (Trans Java and Bandung)

1. Traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Trans Java via the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, with a total of 238,097 vehicles, an increase of 40.3 percent from normal traffic.

2. Traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate of the Cipularang Toll Road, with a total of 221,463 vehicles, an increase of 13.9 percent from normal traffic.

Total traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Trans Java and Bandung via the two toll gates was 459,560 vehicles, an increase of 26.2 percent from normal traffic.

West Direction (Merak)

Traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Merak via the Cikupa Toll Gate of the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road was 310,052 vehicles, an increase of 8.2 percent from normal traffic.

South Direction (Puncak)

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles leaving Jabotabek towards Puncak via the Ciawi Toll Gate of the Jagorawi Toll Road was 223,828 vehicles, an increase of 5.1 percent from normal traffic.

Jasa Marga appeals to toll road users to anticipate travel during the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year holiday period well. Before entering the toll road, make sure the vehicle and driver are in prime condition, ensure sufficient fuel, electronic money card balance and use time wisely by taking sufficient time to rest at rest areas, and obey the signs and directions of officers in the field.
