Jokowi Open to Providing Input to Pramono-Rano's Transition Team

TEMPO.CO, Solo - Former President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has expressed his willingness to provide input to the transition team of Jakarta's Governor-elect and Deputy Governor-elect, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno. The team had previously indicated that they would seek guidance from previous Jakarta Governors, including Jokowi.

Jokowi served as Governor of Jakarta from 2012 to 2014, alongside his then-deputy, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama commonly known as Ahok. He subsequently won the 2014 Presidential Election.

“Yes, it's a good thing. Getting input from them, best former governors, is good,” he said when meeting with reporters at his residence in Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo, Central Java, on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Despite being officially expelled from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Jokowi affirmed his readiness to offer insights. “For anyone (ready to provide input). For anyone,” he emphasized.

However, the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka also acknowledged his limitations. “What do you want to ask me, I can't do anything,” he said.

Pramono Anung and Rano Karno were officially declared the winners of the Jakarta gubernatorial election by the General Elections Commission (KPU), defeating their opponents, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono and Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana.

To facilitate a smooth transition, the Pramono-Rano team has established a transition team and intends to seek guidance from former Jakarta leaders, including Anies Baswedan, Ahok, and Jokowi.

Ima Mahdiah, the head of the transition team, said learning from the experiences of past governors would be crucial for the leadership of Pramono Anung and Rano Karno. “Their experience in leading Jakarta is a valuable consideration in understanding the city's challenges and dynamics,” Ima told Tempo on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
