TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the Kingdom of Jordan is ready to support Indonesia in sending military personnel to the Gaza Strip, Palestine, through the International Stabilization Force (ISF). Sugiono conveyed this after attending a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, in Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, local time.

The two heads of state discussed the situation in Palestine, including the current conditions in the West Bank. "The essence is that Jordan is also ready to provide its support when we send troops," Sugiono said, as quoted from the President's Media Team.

In addition to that support, the bilateral meetings between Indonesia and Jordan also discussed several technical matters in the military sector, with an agreement to assist each other according to need.

The meeting also followed up on several collaborations discussed during King Abdullah II's visit to Jakarta in November 2025. "There has been some progress, and there will be follow-ups on several matters that still need to be addressed," Sugiono said.

According to him, this bilateral meeting aims to strengthen strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Jordan in defense and diplomacy. Furthermore, the meeting demonstrates coordination between the two countries in facing security and stability challenges in Gaza and the West Bank.

Indonesia has committed to sending 8,000 soldiers to the Gaza Strip, more than any other country involved in the ISF. It is estimated that the total number of joint forces for the mission in Gaza will reach around 20,000 soldiers.

The plan to send the joint ISF troops to the Gaza Strip was previously announced in the inaugural Board of Peace meeting. The conference took place in Washington, D.C., United States, and was attended by the leaders of member countries, including President Prabowo.

During the meeting, Prabowo stated Indonesia's agreement to send troops to Gaza to maintain a conducive situation and advocate for peace. Prabowo claimed that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip has yielded tangible results. "Therefore, we reaffirm our commitment to contribute a large number of troops, up to 8,000 or more if necessary," Prabowo said in Washington, D.C., United States on Thursday, February 19, 2026 local time.

The head of state said that Indonesia will begin sending advance troops to the Gaza Strip in the next one to two months.
