TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an interrogation of the General Secretary of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Hasto Kristiyanto (HK) today. Hasto is being questioned as a suspect of obstructing the investigation and bribery involving the former Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan, which also implicates fugitive Harun Masiku.
"It is true that Mr. HK was summoned today in his capacity as a suspect," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto in a brief message on Monday, 17 February 2025.
In this case, Hasto has to swallow a bitter pill as the Single Judge of the South Jakarta District Court did not accept his pretrial request. The reason being that it did not meet the administrative requirements.
The Chairman of the National Legal System Reform Sector Ronny Talapessy stated that Hasto Kristiyanto's pretrial request was not rejected but not accepted. "The judge's decision is that the pretrial request cannot be accepted because it does not meet the administrative requirements," said Ronny in his official statement on Thursday, 13 February 2025.
The requirement not met, according to Ronny, was the merging of two inquiries related to bribery and obstruction of investigation in one pretrial request. In the considerations of the decision read by the single judge Djuyamto, the merging of the testing whether two investigation orders are valid was deemed not to meet the formal requirements in the pretrial request. "The judge opines that the pretrial request from the petitioner is deemed not to be acceptable," said Djuyamto.
