TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian national team player Marselino Ferdinan finally made his debut for Oxford United. He appeared as a substitute in the match against third-tier team Exeter City in the third round of the FA Cup at St James Park, Saturday, January 11, 2025.
In the match, Marselino appeared in the 89th minute when he replaced Siriki Dembele who played as an attacking midfielder.
Marselino played for approximately 10 minutes until the 90+8 minute. After coming on, the 20-year-old player made a yellow card in the 90+5 minute.
This was a long wait for Marselino after he had been included in the line-up for Oxford's four consecutive matches in the Championship in November. The four matches were against Hull City, Watford, Middlesbrough, and Sheffield United.
This match was won by the home team Exeter with a score of 1-3. Oxford had taken the lead first through a goal from experienced player Matt Phillips in the 14th minute.
However, Exeter took advantage of the home game status. They then quickly turned things around through two goals from Demetri Mitchell in the 22nd and 40th minutes, and a goal from Vincent Harper in the 64th minute.
Oxford found it increasingly difficult to catch up after they played with 10 men after Tyler Goodrham received a red card in the 81st minute.
This defeat means Oxford are out of the FA Cup. In their next match, Gary Rowett's team will play in the Championship when they visit bottom team Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Wednesday, January 15, at 02:45 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
Currently, Oxford is in 17th position in the Championship standings with 28 points, the result of seven wins, seven draws, and 11 losses from 25 matches.
