TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Pratikno, said he has no plans to exit President Prabowo Subianto's cabinet amid a rumored reshuffle.
The former Rector of Gadjah Mada University dismissed the rumors of his resignation from the coordinating minister position. "No," he said, after attending the 100th Anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Pratikno said he has never submitted a resignation letter to Prabowo, and has no plans to leave the government.
Talks of a cabinet reshuffle resurfaced after Prabowo's nephew, Thomas Djiwandono, was appointed as the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, which left his previous post as Deputy Minister of Finance, vacant.
Another one of Prabowo's nephews, Budisatrio Djiwandono, was also said to be joining the cabinet by House Commission I chair Utut Adianto.
Utut made this statement during a working meeting with the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian National Armed Forces on Monday, January 26, 2026. "The person on my right, I suspect, will soon be joining the executive post," said the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician.
Budisatrio, who serves as the Deputy Chair of the House Commission I, was sitting next to Utut at the time. But Budisatrio was swift to deny Utut's statement. "My task remains the same in the House of Representatives Commission I," he said on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Meanwhile, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi affirmed that the cabinet reshuffle is the prerogative right of President Prabowo Subianto. The deputy chair of Gerindra Party said there are no current plans for a cabinet reshuffle, and statements otherwise are mere rumors.
He emphasized that everything related to the cabinet is within Prabowo's authority, and the president reviews the performance of his cabinet members on a daily basis. "Not necessarily (requiring) a specific forum for evaluation," said Prasetyo.
The former member of the House of Representatives mentioned that Prabowo regularly assesses the performance of his ministers and deputy ministers. In doing so, Prabowo will then determine what steps to take for improvement, including the cabinet reshuffle.
