TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman addresses the surge of imports entering Indonesia and disrupting the local market. He says that the government has not been able to resolve this issue, which has impacted small entrepreneurs.
Maman mentions Pasar Tajur in Bogor Regency as one of the locations most affected by the influx of imports. "At Pasar Tajur, the amount of imported goods is extraordinary. Ultimately, it affects our local products. As the government, we are unable to provide innovative transformation to micro-enterprises to compete with them," said Maman at the Ministry of SMEs building in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
This Golkar Party politician says that he is very responsible for ensuring the success of small entrepreneurs so they can move up the ladder. However, it requires extra effort for micro-enterprises to transform into small enterprises, and eventually into medium enterprises. "Basically, I think the SME sector must survive," said Maman.
Maman states that he has placed a special team at Pasar Tajur to anticipate the surge of imports to that location. He hopes that the SME sector can thrive and grow to boost job creation and enhance economic growth. "This is our concern," said Maman.
At the same time, Maman praises the steps taken by Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa in relation to cracking down on import mafias. Maman believes that this action can narrow the entry points for illegal imported goods into the country. "Because the borders are closed. Indeed, the entry points are from there," he said.
Furthermore, Maman has also discussed with Trade Minister Budi Santoso regarding anticipation of the proliferation of imported goods in Indonesia. According to him, the informal meeting has shed light on follow-up actions related to the issue of imported goods.
