
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, 22 out of 25 food commodities recorded a price drop, according to the Indonesia's National Food Bureau. The decline ranged from Rp 43 to as much as Rp5,929.
Tempo’s review of National Food Bureau's official website on the same day showed consistent price decreases over the past week, especially for shallots and curly red chilies.
Shallots were priced at Rp38,350 per kilogram, down Rp1,078 from the previous day and Rp2,473 lower than the price on Wednesday, May 7, which was Rp40,823 per kilogram.
The largest price cut was seen in local buffalo meat, now selling at Rp135,500 per kilogram, a decrease of Rp5,929 from the day before.
Red bird’s eye chilies also saw a notable drop, priced at Rp52,301 per kilogram or Rp2,745 less than yesterday. Curly red chilies followed, down by Rp2,282 per kilogram.

Shallots – Rp38,894/kg (Rp1,078 lower)
Bulb garlic – Rp42,237/kg (Rp734 lower)
Curly red chili – Rp49,613/kg (Rp2,282 lower)
Sugar – Rp18,507/kg (Rp43 lower)
Packaged cooking oil – Rp20,546/liter (Rp194 lower)
Bulk cooking oil – Rp17,570/liter (Rp283 lower)
Bulk wheat flour – Rp9,629/kg (Rp146 lower)
Minyakita – Rp17,466/kg (Rp131 lower)
Packaged wheat flour – Rp12,719/kg (Rp250 lower)
Bullet tuna – Rp33,291/kg (Rp483 lower)
Milkfish – Rp33,123/kg (Rp646 lower)
Salt – Rp11,571/kg (Rp132 lower)
Imported buffalo meat – Rp105,806/kg (Rp1,477 lower)
Local buffalo meat – Rp135,500/kg (Rp5,929 lower)
Domestic chicken – Rp34,831/kg (Rp173 lower)
Chicken eggs – Rp28,856/kg (Rp281 lower)
Red bird’s eye chili – Rp52,301/kg (Rp2,745 lower)
Meanwhile, National Food Bureau also reported that prices rose for three commodities: large red chilies, beef, and mackerel.
