TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Presidential Palace has officially launched the logo and visual identity for Indonesia's 81st Independence Day. The 81st Independence Day logo was selected through an online poll.
Out of five finalists, Fajar Novario's logo design was chosen as the official logo for Indonesian Independence Day. Fajar is a designer from Padang, West Sumatra. This logo garnered the most votes in the polling conducted from June 24 to 28, 2026.
Deputy Minister of State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro explained that the total number of votes received during the selection period was 68,569. 44.73 percent of the votes chose the second logo designed by Fajar Novario.
"Congratulations to Fajar Novario, your work has been designated as the commemorative logo for the 81st Indonesian Independence Day in 2026. Visually, this logo appears firm, yet it also has a strong philosophy," Juri said in a press conference at the Presidential Office, in the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday, June 29, 2026.
According to Juri, Fajar's logo design stemmed from an exploration of diverse traditional motifs from various regions of the country. "Within this diversity, common patterns symbolize that diversity is the foundation of the people's sovereignty in realizing Indonesia that is sovereign, just, and prosperous," he said.
Juri also expressed appreciation to the five best logo designers who became finalists. According to Juri, these five logos successfully translated the theme of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day, "Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia," into a visual form with a good philosophical meaning.
Meanwhile, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya expressed his appreciation for the selected logo designed by Fajar Novario. Riefky stated that his ministry had prepared an appreciation prize for Fajar. "Regarding the prize, from the Ministry of Creative Economy for the first winner is Rp100 million," said Riefky.
