PBSI Withdraws 3 Indonesian Representatives from 2025 Malaysia Open Tournament

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI)'s Head of Coaching and Achievement, Eng Hian, said that two men's doubles pairs and one men's singles pair were withdrawn from the 2025 BWF Super 1000 Malaysia Open tournament. The tournament will take place on January 7-12.

"They are Leo/Bagas and Daniel/Fikri, and Chico. The decision was taken by the coaches after analyzing the need for longer preparation so that they can perform optimally after the training break," said Eng Hian as quoted from a written statement from PBSI in Jakarta on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

The former men's doubles badminton athlete said that the coaches stated that Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo were better prepared for the 2025 Indonesia Masters. The tournament will take place on January 21-26, 2025.

Meanwhile, there are also the names that will be sent to the tournament as the Indonesian contingent. In the men's singles, there are Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. Then in the women's singles will be filled by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani.

In the men's doubles, there are Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianton and Sabar Karyaman Gutama / Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. Followed by the women's doubles Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti / Lanny Tria Mayasari. Meanwhile, the mixed doubles will be filled by Dejan Ferdinansyah / Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.
