TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police have identified the roles of four individuals arrested in the death of Mohamad Ilham Pradipta, the Branch Manager of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) Cempaka Putih. Ilham was found dead in Bekasi, West Java, with his hands and feet bound, and his mouth and eyes covered.
"The four arrested suspects, identified by the initials AT, RS, RAH, and RW, were involved in the kidnapping, not the murder of the victim," stated Sr. Comr. Ressa Fiardi Marabessy, Chief of the Mobile Detective Subdirectorate of the Jakarta Metro Police, as quoted in a press release on Friday, August 22, 2025.
Adj. Comr. Charles Bagaisar, Head of Unit IV of the Mobile Detective Subdirectorate of the Jakarta Metro Police, confirmed that the suspects confessed to their involvement. They admitted to abducting the victim from Lotte Grosir Pasar Rebo.
"It’s still an early interrogation, but they have confessed to the abduction of the victim from the supermarket in Pasar Rebo," Charles said.
Hunt for the Killer Continues
Police are still actively searching for Ilham's killer. The four arrested suspects are being interrogated to uncover the motive behind the murder.
The Head of Criminal Investigation at the East Jakarta Metro Police, Grand Commissioner Dicky, confirmed that the victim was not only kidnapped from a shopping center in Ciracas, East Jakarta, but was also murdered. His body was found several days later in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency.
BRI Investigates the Incident
Hery Gunardi, the CEO of Bank BRI, confirmed the kidnapping and murder and stated that the bank is also investigating the incident. "We are currently conducting an in-depth investigation into the deceased employee. We are also concerned; it seems that he was kidnapped. I saw in the video that he was taken from the car, put into the car, and then suddenly he [was found] dead this morning," he said during a meeting with the Commission VI of the House of Representative (DPR) at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Regarding the motive, BRI is waiting for information from the police. Hery mentioned they are seeking to determine if the crime was related to debt collection or other issues. "Whether it is related to debt collection or something else, we haven't found out yet. The police are investigating it," Hery concluded.
