Prabowo Announces His Merah Putih Cabinet Lineup

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has announced the lineup for his government cabinet, which will serve for the 2024-2029 period. The cabinet consists of seven coordinating ministries and 41 technical ministries.

A notable appointment is Major (Inf) Teddy Indra Wijaya also known as Mayor Teddy, Prabowo's Personal Assistant, who has been named Cabinet Secretary. Other anticipated names, such as Sri Mulyani as Finance Minister, Bahlil Lahadalia as Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, and Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin as Defense Minister, have also been confirmed.

“With the agreement of the coalition chairpersons, we have named this cabinet the Kabinet Merah Putih (Red and White Cabinet),” Prabowo declared at the Merdeka Palace on Sunday night, October 20, 2024.

He made the announcement alongside Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Gerindra Party's Chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

In addition to coordinating ministries and technical ministries, Prabowo also announced the heads of agencies that do not fall under the purview of coordinating ministers, including the Cabinet Secretary.

The inauguration of the cabinet is scheduled for Monday, October 21, at 10 a.m. at the Jakarta Palace. "I will inaugurate [the ministers] tomorrow morning, at 10 a.m.," added the former defense minister.
