TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto summoned eight ministers to the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, to refine the downstreaming program.
Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said that this meeting was intended to further develop the meeting conducted by the Energy Resilience Downstreaming Task Force with President Prabowo on Monday, March 3, 2025. The task force is led by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia.
"Pak Bahlil has already updated it. Yesterday, there was a task force meeting in the afternoon at the Ministry of ESDM. Then, in the evening, there was a downstreaming meeting with Pak President. Today, it (the program) will be refined again," Raja Juli said on Tuesday.
After the meeting, Raja Juli said that Prabowo would deliver a briefing to the Red and White Cabinet and high officials at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputy of Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana previously stated that the briefing agenda would start around 4:30 PM. "This afternoon at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Bapak President Prabowo will lead a meeting and deliver a briefing to the ministers, heads of agencies, deputy ministers, heads of LPNK, and other officials," Yusuf said in an official statement on Tuesday.
Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia conveyed that 21 downstreaming projects will be expedited. The downstreaming projects will be financed by the Investment Management Agency for Nusantara's Unutilized Resources (BPI Danantara). This was agreed upon in a meeting led by President PS at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday night, March 3, 2025.
"We have decided the first stage of downstreaming, targeted at approximately US$618 billion, for the year 2025, which we presented, approximately around 21 projects in the first stage with a total investment of around US$40 billion," Bahlil said in a press release after the meeting.
The Chair of the Golkar Party stated that one of the main projects is the construction of an oil project storage on Nipah Island. The storage of this oil is targeted to meet national needs for 30 days, in accordance with the President's mandate.
In addition, the government will build a refinery with a capacity of 500,000 barrels per day, which will become one of the largest oil processing facilities in Indonesia. This project aims to ensure a more stable domestic energy supply and reduce import dependence.
