TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has warned former executives of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) that they could be held legally accountable for mismanagement, citing persistent budget leakages within the sector.

Speaking at the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of central and regional governments at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Bogor, West Java, on Monday, February 2, 2026, Prabowo said former SOE leaders should not assume they are beyond scrutiny.

“I say this clearly: former SOE leaders must be responsible. Don’t be comfortable. Be prepared to be summoned by prosecutors,” Prabowo told participants at the meeting.

During his address, Prabowo also highlighted the establishment of the Investment Management Agency Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara), which serves as Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund. He said his administration has consolidated all state-owned enterprise assets under a single investment management structure.

“I have gathered all that power into one management, one management valued at around US$1.04 trillion in assets under management,” said Prabowo, who is also chair of the Gerindra Party.

According to Prabowo, the consolidation is aimed at improving governance and efficiency in the SOE sector, which he said was previously fragmented across 1,040 companies.

“Just imagine, who can effectively manage 1,000 companies? That’s a trick,” he said.

Prabowo further stressed that his government is serious about law enforcement and rejected claims that his warnings were merely rhetorical.

“They mock me, saying, ‘Prabowo only speaks from the podium.’ Oh really? Just wait for the summons (by prosecutors). Don’t challenge me,” he said.
