TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has officially formed the Red and White Cabinet, consisting of 48 ministries, larger than former President Jokowi’s cabinet with 34 ministries. The bloated cabinet is formed by separating several pre-existing ministries.
Public policy observer Yanuar Nugroho criticized the size of Prabowo’s cabinet. According to him, the oversized cabinet potentially hinders the efficiency of policy execution and causes duty overlaps.
"Matters that should be handled by one ministry will now require more time and resources," said Yanuar, as quoted from a written statement on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Prabowo’s oversized cabinet also requires a considerable amount of budget since there will be additional employees and special staff in each ministry.
