TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hasan Nasbi, Head of Communications for the Indonesian President, said that President Prabowo will conduct surprise, unannounced inspections of the implementation of the free nutritious meal program.
Hasan explained that there is no set schedule or specific locations designated for these visits. The President intends to visit the free nutritious meal distribution points unexpectedly. “So, without any prior announcements, to allow for more natural observation,” he said on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Hasan noted that it is too early to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the government's flagship program, as it only launched on the first day. A formal evaluation will be submitted to the National Nutrition Agency.
However, the Presidential Communications team, along with members of the cabinet, has visited several locations in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek), including Halim Perdana Kusumah, Cakung, Palmerah, Depok, Bogor, and Karawang.
Hasan reported that the operation of the free nutritious meal kitchens adheres to standard operating procedures (SOPs). For instance, personnel consistently maintain sanitation standards by wearing appropriate footwear, hair coverings, and masks while in the kitchen areas.
“And within the kitchens, the compartmentalization is well organized. There are designated areas for storage, food preparation, cooking, plating, and for transporting the trays to the distribution vehicles,” Hasan explained. “From what we've observed, the kitchen operations are very well managed.”
The free nutritious meal program, initiated by President Prabowo, was launched simultaneously today across 26 provinces in Indonesia, including Aceh, Bali, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, Riau Islands, Riau, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Maluku, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, to West Papua and South Papua.
The National Nutrition Agency, the coordinating body for this program, has established 190 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) points that will function as public kitchens. These SPPGs are distributed across the 26 participating provinces.
