TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chair of the Executive Board of the Gerindra Party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said President Prabowo Subianto has invited all former Indonesian presidents and vice presidents to the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, March 3, 2026, for a meeting aimed at discussing several key issues.
“First, the invitation is certainly about fostering friendship, especially during the month of Ramadan,” Dasco said at the House of Representatives (DPR) complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to Dasco, Prabowo will also brief his predecessors on the latest geopolitical developments following his recent overseas tour. The president visited several countries during an 11-day trip from February 17 to 27.
“Mr. Prabowo also wants to hear inputs and suggestions from the former presidents,” Dasco added.
Dasco, who also serves as Deputy Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), said the advice from former leaders would be taken into consideration, particularly in shaping Indonesia’s response to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
“The focus is on mitigation measures for the nation against the impact of the war, which could also affect our country,” he said.
Several former leaders have confirmed their attendance.
Former president Joko Widodo confirmed through his aide, Brig. Gen. Pol. Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, that he will attend the meeting.
Indonesia’s sixth president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, is also expected to be present. “If there is an invitation from the President, of course Mr. SBY will attend,” said Democratic Party Secretary-General Herman Khaeron.
Former vice president Jusuf Kalla likewise confirmed he would attend the gathering at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. “Inshaallah (God willing),” Kalla said.
