TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will meet with Prime Minister (PM) Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim in Malaysia on Sunday night, April 6, 2025.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the meeting is in the context of Idul Fitri's goodwill. After meeting Anwar Ibrahim, Prabowo will immediately return to Jakarta.

"Tonight he will meet PM Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur and immediately return to Jakarta," said Teddy to the media on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Teddy said that Prabowo considers Anwar Ibrahim as a friend. Prabowo also respects Anwar as a senior leader in ASEAN with extensive experience.

Asked whether Prabowo and Anwar will discuss the policy of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, Teddy did not deny it.

"Certainly, if they have met, they will definitely discuss many things," he said.

Prabowo, along with the leaders of the four ASEAN member countries, previously communicated via phone to discuss the response to the reciprocal tariff policy announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Prabowo exchanged views with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

He said that the ASEAN Economic Ministers' meeting, which will be held next week, will follow up on the discussion regarding the best approach to facing the application of reciprocal U.S. tariffs.
