TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will receive a state visit from the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), To Lam, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, March 10, 2025, at around 4:30 PM local time.
To Lam's visit is in the context of a state visit that marks 70 years of relations between Indonesia and Vietnam. Secretary To Lam is scheduled to be in Indonesia for three days from March 9-11, 2025.
According to a statement from the Deputy of Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, To Lam will be welcomed with a State Ceremony at the Presidential Palace, followed by a tte--tte meeting between the two leaders.
Subsequently, a bilateral meeting will be held between the Indonesian and Vietnamese delegations to discuss strengthening cooperation in various strategic fields.
As part of the agenda, Prabowo and Secretary To Lam will hold a joint press conference to announce the results of the meeting to the public.
In addition to the state welcome and meetings at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, while in Indonesia, Secretary To Lam is also scheduled to meet with businesspeople as well as the leaders of the People's Consultative Assembly, the House of Representatives, and the Regional Representative Council.
To Lam had previously arrived at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2025. To Lam arrived on Vietnam Airlines, the national airline of Vietnam, at around 1:30 PM local time.
Several officials were seen welcoming To Lam, including the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung. Both paid their respects as To Lam disembarked from the plane.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously stated that Secretary To Lam would meet with President Prabowo Subianto to discuss potential cooperation to elevate the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Vietnam to a higher level.
This visit is To Lam's first as the Secretary General of CPV and is significant as it coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam.
In Vietnam's state system, the position of the Secretary General of CPV is the highest political leader among the four pillars of state leadership, namely the Secretary General of CPV, the President, the Prime Minister, and the Chairman of the National Assembly.
