TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A January survey by public policy and political consulting firm Indekstat Indonesia shows President Prabowo Subianto leading in early electability ratings for the 2029 presidential election.
The survey asked respondents: “If the presidential election were held today, who would you choose as president?” and listed 10 potential candidates.
“The results show that Prabowo leads with 47.2 percent,” Saiful Muhjab, Head of Politics at Indekstat Indonesia, said during a teleconference broadcast on the firm’s YouTube channel on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi ranked second with 17.8 percent, followed by former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan at 11.2 percent.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa placed fourth with 4.9 percent, while Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka received 3.9 percent.
Indekstat also recorded support for PDIP executive board chair Ganjar Pranowo at 3.7 percent and Democratic Party chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) at 1.0 percent.
Further down the list were National Awakening Party (PKB) chair Muhaimin Iskandar and Youth and Sports Minister as well as Football Association (PSSI) chair Erick Thohir, each with 0.4 percent. Former vice presidential candidate Mahfud Md garnered 0.3 percent.
Respondents who said they did not know or declined to answer accounted for 3.9 percent, while undecided voters totaled 9.2 percent, Saiful said.
The survey was conducted from January 11 to 25, 2026, involving 1,200 respondents across 38 provinces. Participants were Indonesian citizens aged at least 17 and eligible to vote in the 2029 election.
Saiful said the survey used face-to-face interviews conducted by trained enumerators and applied a multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percent.
