TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Israeli media reported that the Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, and the Chief of Staff of Israel, Herzi Halevi, are increasing pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon due to the high number of Israeli casualties, the Lebanese news network Al-Mayadeen reported.
Al-Mayadeen quoted the Israeli newspaper, The Jerusalem Post, which stated that the Israeli occupation forces are seeking a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, considering the high number of casualties among the Israeli military, due to strong resistance from both sides and the grim prospects of achieving a military victory.
According to The Jerusalem Post, Gallant and Halevi have also urged the Israeli Prime Minister to work towards an agreement to secure the return of 101 Israeli hostages, both alive and deceased, from the Gaza Strip.
"Time is crucial to secure the return of the hostages, which according to most officials will only happen, if at all, through an agreement with Hamas," the Israeli newspaper quoted Gallant and Halevi as saying at an officer graduation ceremony on October 31.
These developments coincide with the confirmation by the Israeli Army Radio that 87 Israeli citizens were killed in October, 64 of whom were officers, soldiers, and security personnel, and the rest were illegal settlers.
Without Strategy
Regarding the losses suffered by Israel, Security Expert and Reserve Colonel in the Israeli military, Kobi Marom, admitted to Channel 12 Israel that Tel Aviv, despite fighting on seven fronts, lacks a solid military strategy and clear mechanisms for resolution, Al-Mayadeen reported.
"Israel is facing challenging battles in Lebanon, marked by drone activities and a barrage of missiles," Marom told the Israeli television channel.
He added, "There is no doubt there are well-coordinated and sophisticated operations to challenge our system."
The reserve colonel told Channel 12 that "Hezbollah's command and control system is being enhanced, along with its shooting formations," emphasizing that this is happening "amid the evacuation of settlement units and disruption of commercial activities."
