TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) weakened by 0.52 percent in the first trading session today, Thursday, May 8, 2025. IHSG closed at 6,889.6 in the first session.
By the end of the first session, 231 stocks strengthened, 397 weakened, and 219 remained stagnant. "The transaction value reached Rp8.9 trillion, with 936,653 frequency of trading and a trading volume of 254 million lots," as explained by the Analyst Team of PT Samuel Sekuritas Indonesia in their statement to Tempo, Thursday afternoon, 8th May 2025.
Several big-cap stocks weakened and affected the market in today's first session. Some of the most prominent ones include BBCA down 0.8 percent, BBRI down 1.2 percent, BMRI down 1.6 percent, AMMN down 1 percent, and BYAN down 0.6 percent.
The metal mining company Aneka Tambang (ANTM) became the most actively traded stock in today's first session, with a transaction frequency of 56,031 times. This was followed by MDKA, traded 30,995 times, and WIRG, 27,485 times.
Based on volume, GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (GOTO) stock was the most traded in today's first session with a trading volume of 50.1 million lots, followed by BBKP with 7.8 million and BUMI with 7.8 million.
The transportation sector index (IDXTRANS) strengthened by 0.7 percent, becoming the sectoral index with the highest increase in today's first session. This was followed by the health sector index (IDXHEALTH), which strengthened by 0.2 percent.
Meanwhile, the property sector index (IDXPROPERTY) became the most significant decliner in today's first session, down 1.8 percent, followed by the cyclical consumer sector index (IDXCYCLIC), down 0.8 percent, and the energy sector index (IDXENERGY), down 0.5 percent.
The top five gainers based on the percentage increase in the first session today included DKHH (+34.8 percent to Rp178 per share); BEER (+33.8 percent to Rp87 per share); KLAS (+20.3 percent to Rp142 per share); KRYA (+17.9 percent to Rp164 per share); and JATI (+16.5 percent to Rp141 per share).
Meanwhile, the top five losers with the most significant decrease in the first session today included PPRI (-14.8 percent to Rp230 per share); DMAS (-14.7 percent to Rp150 per share); BATR (-12.3 percent to Rp71 per share); TCID (-11.6 percent to Rp2,210 per share); and PNSE (-11.1 percent to Rp400 per share).
