TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, responds to the accusation of banning students from posting pictures of their free nutritious meals at school.
“BGN did not issue any ban,” said Dadan when contacted on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Dadan said posting photos of the free nutritious meal menu every day is part of the supervision by all parties involved. Hence, he stressed, the agency did not prohibit any individuals from taking pictures of the menus.
Previously, claims from posters on social media went viral, alleging the government banning students from taking pictures of their free lunch menus at school.
“Today, my school got its share of the free meal. But my teacher announced that we are banned from sharing the photos [of the menu] to social media for fear of “bad” reputation, and those who dare to share the photos will be found and imposed with social sanctions,“ wrote one of the posters, @vi*****”aihs on X.
The National Nutrition Agency, the agency handling this program, launched the first free nutritious meal at 190 locations of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit, or SPPG, on Monday, January 6. The public kitchens for the program are spread across 26 provinces in Indonesia.
The SPPGs work with a nutritionist and an accountant to ensure strict supervision of the nutritional quality and smooth distribution of the meals.
In addition to ensuring nutritional adequacy in each portion of the free nutritious meal, SPPG is also tasked with strictly supervising the standards of hygiene, nutrition management, and waste management in each public kitchen.
