TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir stated that he will evaluate all of Pertamina's management after the alleged corruption case in the management of crude oil and refinery products. The case involved several executives at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, PT Pertamina International Shipping, and PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional.
Overall Review of Pertamina's Management
Erick emphasized that the government will thoroughly evaluate Pertamina's management and organizational structure to prevent similar cases going forward.
"We will conduct a thorough review within Pertamina to identify what we can improve in the future. Many have discussed the role of SKK Migas, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the State-Owned Enterprises Minister, and others, which we will consolidate. We must provide solutions. As President of the Republic of Indonesia always says, communication between these ministers is necessary," said Erick Thohir at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday, March 2, 2025, as quoted from Antaranews.
He stated that various related parties, including the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, will collaborate to improve the existing system, ensure more transparent governance, and enhance operational efficiency.
Evaluation of Holding and Subholding Structure
To enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of management, Erick also mentioned that he and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia will conduct a comprehensive mapping of Pertamina's holding and subholding structure. One of the options under consideration is the possibility of merging several companies under Pertamina to make the business process more effective.
"Insya Allah, Pak Bahlil and I can provide this solution. We will map out where we can be more efficient. There is a holding, there are subholdings, so we will review them. It is okay to merge 1-2 companies under Pertamina to prevent exchange sales between the Refinery and Patra Niaga. We will review this," he added.
According to Erick, this efficiency aims to align the operations of various Pertamina subsidiaries to avoid potential overlapping that could harm the country. He also emphasized that this evaluation will involve stakeholders to find the best solutions.
Erick Thohir emphasized that his ministry will always respect the legal process and is committed to cooperating with the Attorney General's Office in eradicating corruption within state-owned companies. He stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in managing state assets, especially in the energy sector, which plays a strategic role in the national economy.
"We continue to work together and coordinate with the Attorney General's Office to eradicate corruption cases, both in the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and its subsidiary companies," said Erick.
For example, he noted that similar steps have been taken in handling corruption cases at PT Asabri (Persero) and PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) that occurred earlier. Erick emphasized that they will continue to oversee law enforcement efforts to prevent any loopholes for corrupt practices within state-owned enterprises.
Directorate Change
Regarding replacing the Executive Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Erick mentioned that the decision is still under discussion and will be further consulted with the President Commissioner of Pertamina. He emphasized that leadership changes in state-owned enterprises must be conducted transparently and with the company's long-term interests in mind.
"Regarding the replacement of the President Director of Patra Niaga, we have not discussed it further. This will be consulted first with the President Commissioner. We ensure that whoever leads in the future can bring positive changes to the company," added Erick Thohir.
