TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati held the first meeting with three of her deputy ministers, Thomas Djiwandono, Suahasil Nazara, and Anggito Abimanyu, today, Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
Citing her official Instagram page, Sri Mulyani seemed to be receiving the five-year report that had been previously drafted with the deputy ministers. The state treasurer also said the Ministry of Finance’s leadership composition was ‘old and new’ from President Joko Widodo’s era to President Prabowo.
Sri Mulyani, along with Suahasil and Thomas, had previously served in the same ministerial post during Jokowi’s reign. Meanwhile, Anggito Abimanyu is newly appointed as the Deputy Minister of Finance in the Prabowo-led government.
During the meeting, Sri Mulyani said there had been minimal changes in the ministry. “Nothing has changed except for higher targets,” she said in a video uploaded on the Instagram account @smindrawati, quoted on Wednesday.
In 2025, the ministry targets state revenue to reach Rp3,005.1 trillion and state expenditure of Rp3,621.3 trillion. In comparison, state revenue and state expenditure at the end of Jokowi’s term were Rp2,802.3 trillion and Rp3,325.1 trillion, respectively.
With the growing state revenue target, the ministry designed the state deficit to be 2.53 percent of the GDP. Previously, a Member of the Expert Council of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team, Drajad Wibowo, said that based on calculations, about 45 percent of the total state revenue, or Rp1,353.2 trillion, will be used to pay off debts. This consists of Rp800.3 trillion in principal payments and Rp552.9 trillion in interest.
In the organizational side of the ministry, the Ministry of Finance is now working under the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. The change is stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 139 of 2024. Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, ensured that the Ministry of Finance would be responsible directly to President Prabowo Subianto.
