Taxi Company Bluebird Confident to Compete with Vietnam's Xanh SM in Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-based taxi company PT Blue Bird, or Bluebird Group, is optimistic that its long-running business in Indonesia can compete with Vietnamese electric taxi service Xanh SM, which has officially launched operations in the country.

President Director of Bluebird, Adrianto Djokosoetono, attributed the confidence to the company’s fifty years of experience in serving the Indonesian people.

“We have been taking them to their destination and happiness, providing a positive impact on the nation,” said Adrianto in his written statement on Friday, December 27.

Adrianto believes that Bluebird’s various products and services have had a positive impact on consumers. “Bluebird is committed to boosting public pride in Indonesia-made products, as we are prideful to be the most Indonesia of them all,” he said.

As the company upgrades its MyBluebird application service, Adrianto said, the company has experienced a surge in users since 2020. “For Bluebird, maintaining customer loyalty is important,” said Adrianto.

The company, according to him, is striving to keep providing comfort to its customers through community empowerment. “We continue to strengthen our commitment as a pioneer of comfort and sustainability,” he said.

Bluebird, he said, has prepared three business strategies to compete with Xanh SM, namely multi-channel, multi-payment, and multi-product. 

“Our transformation as a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) company enables Bluebird to offer more than just taxi services,” said Adrianto.

The multi-channel strategy allows Bluebird to offer direct services to customers. With this strategy, customers are welcome to order Bluebird services through various channels, including taxi bases, communication centers, applications, and directly call taxis on the side of the road. 

“This ensures we are present anywhere and anytime we are needed by people and Bluebird service users,” said Adrianto.

Next, a multi-payment strategy makes it easier for customers to determine their chosen payment methods, including cash, credit or debit cards, digital wallets, and corporate vouchers, to the quick response code Indonesian standard, or QRIS. Finally, the multi-product strategy provides a list of options for consumers to use, starting from taxis, logistics, bus rental, Inter-Provincial City Shuttle (AKAP), to car ownership and maintenance,” said Adrianto.
