1. Pertamina to Shed Several Subsidiaries in 2026, Which Ones Are Included?
Indonesia's state-owned energy giant PT Pertamina will begin streamlining several of its subsidiaries starting in 2026. The move is part of a broader government plan to consolidate Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises and improve efficiency, following President Prabowo Subianto’s directive.
Prabowo has assigned Danantara Asset Management to oversee the rationalization program, which aims to reduce the current network of nearly 1,000 state-owned enterprises and affiliated companies to about 200.
Agung Wicaksono, Pertamina’s Director of Transformation and Business Sustainability, said the company will consolidate several business lines to sharpen its focus on core energy operations and support national energy self-sufficiency.
2. Indonesia Faces 65 Million Potential Diabetes Cases; Govt Pushes AI Screening for Eye Damage
The Director of Non-Communicable Diseases at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that the problem of diabetes has a significant impact.
"According to the Indonesian Health Survey, its prevalence reaches almost 30 percent, which means that nearly 65 million people in Indonesia are suspected of having diabetes mellitus," she said in a press release received by Tempo in mid-November 2025.
Currently, Nadia stated that her team has only detected around 10 million patients with diabetes. "Through the Free Health Check Program from early 2024 to November 2025, we found 5 to 7.5 million new cases of diabetes.
The current challenge we face is not only that, but we are also limited in terms of the availability of equipment and the capacity of health personnel," Nadia said.
3. Many Online Gambling Sites Hide Their IP Addresses Behind Cloudflare, Says Indonesian Gov't
The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) revealed that the majority of online gambling sites use content delivery network infrastructure owned by Cloudflare.
Out of 10,000 samples of online gambling sites processed on November 1-2, 2025, more than 76 percent were found to utilize the services of the company, including to hide IP addresses and expedite domain transitions to avoid blocking.
The Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Komdigi, Alexander Sabar, stated this in relation to the registration of Electronic System Providers (PSE) as an essential instrument for Indonesia's digital sovereignty and to facilitate law enforcement.
"Without a valid PSE status, coordination and enforcement against prohibited content such as online gambling become more challenging," Sabar said in Jakarta, quoted from a written statement on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
He explained that the findings regarding the high number of IP addresses of online gambling sites behind Cloudflare's services have been conveyed to the company in question.
