TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived at Bogor Presidential Palace in Bogor City, West Java, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The presidential motorcade arrived at 11:29 Jakarta time, where Erdogan and his delegation were greeted by 75 mounted troops from the Indonesian Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres). The number 75 was chosen to represent the 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Turkiye.
The Paspampres Music Corps and local elementary school children also participated in the welcome ceremony, waving both Turkish and Indonesian flags. A 21-gun salute also honored President Erdogan's arrival. President Prabowo Subianto personally welcomed President Erdogan at the palace entrance.
After the national anthems of both countries were played, President Prabowo accompanied President Erdogan as he inspected the Presidential Security Forces. Prabowo then introduced the Indonesian cabinet members to Erdogan and his delegation.
Among the ministers present were Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Indonesian Ambassador to Turkiye Achmad Rizal Purnama, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
The two leaders then held a tete-a-tete meeting before beginning a bilateral meeting, which was to be followed by a joint press conference. "Discussions on strategic issues will take place, and there are also plans to sign documents later," said Yusuf Permana, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, in an official statement on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Yusuf added that President Erdogan would depart from Indonesia immediately following the meetings at Bogor Palace. Prabowo is scheduled to personally see Erdogan off at Halim Perdanakusumah Airport. "We are still awaiting further instructions and guidance," he said.
The previous evening, President Prabowo personally welcomed President Erdogan and his wife at Halim Perdanakusumah Air Base in East Jakarta. Despite heavy rain, Prabowo went directly to the steps of the red and white Boeing 747-8I TC-TRK, which displayed the Turkish flag's crescent and star symbol.
