TEMPO.CO, JakartaIsrael has violated all the rules of war in the Gaza Strip, the commissioner-general of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said on Sunday, December 22, Anadolu reported.

Philippe Lazzarini underscored the ongoing violations in the enclave, where Israel has continued its attacks for the past 14 months.

“Escalation over the past 24 hours. More civilians are reported killed and injured,” he said in a post on his X account. “Attacks on schools and hospitals have been commonplace. The world must not become numb. All wars have rules. All of those rules have been broken.”

Lazzarini also emphasized that a cease-fire in Gaza is "long overdue," calling for a halt to the attacks to protect civilians.

Israel launched a genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, that has killed more than 45,200 people, mostly women and children.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last month for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the enclave.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on Gaza.

Only 12 Trucks in Three Months

Only 12 trucks have distributed food and water to Palestinians in North Gaza in over two months, humanitarian organization Oxfam warned on Monday, the Middle East Eye reported.

While 25 trucks were granted entry by Israel, most were obstructed or delayed by the Israeli occupation military, leaving countless Palestinian civilians without aid.

Since October, Oxfam and other humanitarian organizations have been unable to deliver consistent aid to north Gaza as Israel’s intensified siege of Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanoun blocks access. Thousands remain cut off without food or water, with trapped families making desperate calls for help.

Oxfam said that in one week last month, three trucks were allowed to distribute aid to Gaza, carrying ready-to-eat rations, wheat flour, and water to Mahdia al-Shawa school in Beit Hanoun, which was sheltering displaced families.

"While the aid was distributed, within hours soldiers and quadcopters fired on the school, and people were ordered to leave," Oxfam said.

"The next day the Israeli military returned and shelled the school, burning down the buildings."

“Apocalyptic” Situation

Oxfam warned of an “apocalyptic” situation, with famine likely underway in northern Gaza. They said winter weather conditions were expected to affect more than 1.6 million people living in makeshift shelters, including more than 500,000 in "flood-prone areas."

"The absolute desperation of having no food or shelter for your family in the biting cold of winter. It is abhorrent that despite international law being so publicly violated by Israel and starvation being used relentlessly as a weapon of war, world leaders continue to do nothing," Sally Abi-Khalil, Oxfam’s regional director, said.

A new report this month by Doctors Without Borders, also known as Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), said there was evidence of ethnic cleansing and destruction in Gaza, including mass killings, sieges, and forced displacement.

In its latest findings, MSF detailed Israel's ongoing devastation in the enclave, dismantling of essential civilian infrastructure, and systemic denial of humanitarian assistance.

It follows other reports by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch that have characterized Israel's assault on the Gaza Strip as a genocide.
