TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) stated that as many as 100,000 high-speed train tickets or Whoosh were sold for travel on December 19 to 31, 2024. KCIC Corporate Secretary General Manager Eva Chairunisa said that ticket sales during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) period increased by 20 percent compared to normal days.
"Every day, KCIC provides as many as 28,848 seats that can be booked by passengers through various available official channels," said Eva in her official statement on December 21, 2024.
With the Nataru holiday period, Eva estimates that there will be an increase in the number of Whoosh passengers on December 25 to 26, 2024. She said that KCIC will adjust the train departure schedule during the Christmas holidays and joint leave so that there is no congestion at each high-speed train station.
Adjustments to the schedule during the Christmas holidays and joint leave periods are also made because of factors that influence the determination of dynamic pricing. These factors include peak hours or off-peak hours, high season or low season, or weekdays or weekends.
Dynamic fares for Whoosh Premium Economy class also remain in effect. Currently, the fast train has served 48 trips for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays. Eva said that the Whoosh routes include Halim to Padalarang, Tegalluar Summarecon, and vice versa.
"KCIC hopes that passengers can immediately order Whoosh tickets online to get ticket certainty and be more comfortable when they arrive at the station," said Eva.
Whoosh ticket sales can currently be ordered 14 days before departure for people who want to experience the fast train service. Online fast train ticket reservations can be accessed through the official Whoosh application, such as KAI Access, Livin Mandiri, Brimo, BNI Mobile, and tiket.com. Meanwhile, offline routes such as counters and Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) at the available stations.
Meanwhile, KCIC has made special preparations so that Whoosh passenger services run safely and smoothly. Eva said that these preparations are like mapping potential obstacles that may occur, including bad weather, earthquakes, kites and foreign objects that can disrupt comfort and even endanger the journey.
In addition to mapping the area, she also explained the readiness of technology for the safety of fast train travel during the Nataru period. Eva said that currently KCIC has placed 17 strong wind sensors every 10 kilometers, seven earthquake sensors every 20 kilometers, eight bad weather sensors every 20 kilometers and 1,390 CCTVs to monitor various track and station conditions directly.
In this regard, she said that her company has also carried out various coordination with government agencies so that Whoosh services for the Christmas and New Year period can run smoothly. Eva said that currently KCIC is coordinating intensively with the TNI, Polri, and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
"KCIC continues to conduct security patrols on vulnerable routes and points, involving 510 security personnel, with an additional 28 TNI/Polri personnel to strengthen supervision," said Eva.
She said, KCIC has placed 50 officers at each station to serve passengers of this fast train. KCIC also presents 48 new employees who are assigned to serve restaurants, souvenirs, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at Halim, Padalarang, and Tegalluar Summarecon stations.
