
TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted that 74 percent of the West Java province will experience moderate rainfall during the first ten days of May 2025. Approximately 23 percent of the region is predicted to receive low-intensity rainfall, while 3 percent of the area is likely to encounter heavy rainfall.
According to the BMKG Climatology Station in West Java, high-intensity rainfall is categorized as ranging from 150 to 300 millimeters per ten days. These areas include parts of the southern Bogor Regency and Garut bordering Tasikmalaya Regency.
Meanwhile, BMKG predicted that low-intensity rainfall of 0-50 millimeters per ten days will generally occur in the northern coastal areas. These areas include a large part of Bekasi City, Bekasi Regency, Karawang, Subang, Indramayu, the northern part of Majalengka, Cirebon City, and Cirebon Regency extending to the border of Kuningan, as well as areas bordering Bandung, Sumedang, and Garut Regencies, and the eastern part of Pangandaran Regency.
Medium-intensity rainfall, defined as 50 to 150 millimeters per ten days, is predicted in several areas, including most parts of Bogor Regency and City, as well as Depok City. Other areas include Purwakarta Regency, the central to southern parts of Subang Regency, Sumedang Regency, parts of Majalengka and Kuningan Regencies, Ciamis and Banjar Cities, most of Pangandaran and Tasikmalaya Regencies and City. Furthermore, most parts of Garut and Bandung Regencies and City, Cimahi City, West Bandung Regency, Cianjur, and Sukabumi Regencies and City are also expected to experience medium-intensity rainfall.
Previously, during the third ten-day period of April 2025, BMKG's analysis and monitoring indicated that 10 percent of the West Java region was dominated by high-intensity rainfall. The areas affected included Bogor City, the southern part of Subang Regency, and parts of Sumedang and Majalengka Regencies.
