TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced that BP gas stations purchased 100 thousand barrels of base fuel from state-owned Pertamina Patra Niaga.

"It is true (the negotiation result between BP and Pertamina)," confirmed the Director General of Oil and Gas, Laode Sulaeman, when contacted by Antara from Jakarta on October 31, 2025.

The purchase agreement resulted in the restored availability of BP's flagship fuel, BP 92, or RON 92.

In addition to BP, Laode revealed that other private gas station operators have agreed to negotiate with Pertamina. However, he could not disclose further information until the fuel stock at each gas station is replenished.

Regarding the purchase of fuel from Pertamina, PT Aneka Petroindo Raya (BP-AKR) emphasized that the base fuel supply has undergone quality testing under the supervision of a trusted independent surveyor to ensure that the supply complies with Indonesian government specifications and quality standards, as well as BP International.

"Our priority is clear, to make BP 92 available again and maintain the quality of the product. Quality focus is part of our long-term commitment to building reliable energy services in Indonesia," said the President Director of BP-AKR, Vanda Laura.

Vanda stated that the base fuel import through the government's mechanism is a temporary solution, while the carefully measured and responsible ongoing efforts by BP-AKR aim to address the fuel scarcity.

Fuel shortage in several private gas stations, including BP, has been ongoing since mid-August 2025.

Various talks have taken place between private gas station operators, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Pertamina.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, urged private gas station operators to use Pertamina's import quotas to replenish the fuel stock at their gas stations.

After negotiations lasting approximately two months, the fuel stock at BP gas stations is now starting to recover.
