Crude Oil Prices Extend Decline to US$101.7 per Barrel

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil continued its daily downward trend to around US$101.7 per barrel on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2026. Data from Trading Economics shows that the WTI crude oil price dropped compared to March 31, 2026, when it reached US$101.80 per barrel.

"WTI crude oil fell to around US$101.7 per barrel on Wednesday morning, extending losses from the previous session," quoted Trading Economics' analysis on Wednesday.

Trading Economics' analysis evaluates the decline in crude oil prices in line with increased hopes for de-escalation in the Middle East regarding the attitudes of US and Iran leaders.

The decline in crude oil prices occurred following a report from the Wall Street Journal informing that President Donald Trump may end US operations before the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in order to avoid an extension of the war.

Although declining, data from Trading Economics notes that oil prices surged nearly 40 percent in March. This surge is the strongest since 2022, driven by supply disruptions and damaged infrastructure among major OPEC producers.
