TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police have re-implemented the one-way system on the Puncak route towards Jakarta on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at noon today or D-3 of the Christmas and New Year holiday (Nataru). This policy was taken to reduce the severe congestion that occurred during the long year-end holiday.
With the implementation of this system, vehicles heading to Puncak cannot pass for a while.
The One Way towards Jakarta started at around 11:45 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), marked by a convoy of police vehicles escorting the last vehicle from Jakarta to Puncak. After the convoy, the police immediately closed the flow of vehicles from the Ciawi Intersection and the Jagorawi Toll Road. Until now, the duration of the One Way system is still situational and will be adjusted to current traffic conditions.
Previously, in the morning, traffic conditions on the Puncak route were still relatively smooth compared to Saturday, December 21, 2024. As a result, the police have not implemented the One Way system towards Puncak at that time. However, the odd-even vehicle policy remains in effect.
"The odd-even queue that we implemented starting at 06:00 WIB was only 100 to 200 meters long. Compared to yesterday, the queue reached 2 to 3 kilometers," explained Head of Traffic Unit of Bogor Police, First Inspector Ardian Novianto, to reporters.
This odd-even policy is one of the police's strategies to control vehicle volume during the long holiday. Drivers are advised to comply with the traffic regulations that are implemented for smooth travel.
Alternative Routes to Puncak
For drivers who have urgent needs or must cross outside the opening and closing schedule, there are alternative routes that can be used. This route not only helps avoid congestion, but is also a solution for those who need a fast trip.
Drivers from the direction of Jakarta or Depok can go through the Sentul Selatan toll gate, then choose the route to Babakan Madang, Perumahan Bukit Pelangi, or Rainbow Hill. This route will take you directly to the Megamendung Bridge. From Megamendung, turn right next to Vimala Hills after Simpang Gadog. Next, take the route to Cibedug. After reaching the Cibedug intersection, take the left lane towards Arca Domas. From the Megamendung Police Station, drivers will pass through several villages until they arrive at Cisarua Market.
Although this route is quieter, drivers are still advised to be careful because the road is winding and some points have minimal lighting, especially at night. Make sure your vehicle is in prime condition, including brakes, tires, and fuel, to avoid problems during the trip.
In addition, the police continue to remind the public to always monitor the latest information regarding opening and closing schedules and traffic conditions. This information can be obtained through digital map applications or official police channels.
The Puncak area has winding road contours and sharp bends. Drivers are required to maintain extra vigilance, especially when it rains which makes the road slippery. Also make sure you are in good physical condition and not sleepy while driving. Taking a short break at the available rest areas can be a wise choice.
In addition to the Puncak Route, the route to Bandung has reportedly experienced a spike in vehicle volume. Long queues occurred at several points, including the Cileunyi and Pasteur areas. The police have also prepared traffic engineering in these areas to reduce vehicle congestion.
The situation on the Puncak and Bandung routes will continue to be monitored by officers as the Nataru holidays approach. The police appeal to the public to continue to obey traffic rules and maintain safety during the trip.
