Danantara and USDFC Explore Partnership for Critical Minerals

1 month ago 43

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Danantara Investment Management Agency is discussing investment collaboration with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (USDFC) to bolster the trade agreement between Indonesia and the United States. USDFC is a development finance institution owned by the U.S. government.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto shared this during a press conference at his office on Thursday, July 24, 2025. "There have been discussions to finance ecosystem investments in the critical minerals sector," he said, as quoted by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs' YouTube channel.

Airlangga emphasized that Indonesia is open to investment from various countries, including the United States. He added that similar collaborations are also underway with the European Union. "The EU also gains access through companies owned by the French government, such as Eramet," he noted.

According to him, the critical mineral exports outlined in the Indonesia-U.S. joint statement will not be in raw form. "So, the format is not ore, but as industrial products," he clarified.

Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani and USDFC Chief of Staff and Head of Investments Conor Coleman met at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, D.C., on May 14. They discussed sustainable funding opportunities for priority projects in Indonesia, specifically in the energy transition and digital transformation sectors.

"A solid partnership will open up broader opportunities for innovative financing schemes that have a direct impact on sustainable development," Coleman said, as reported by Antara.
