TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meta AI feature has entered Indonesia and can be used on Whatsapp, Instagram, or Facebook.
The ChatBot innovation from Meta Platform, Inc., allows users to search and communicate interactively with artificial intelligence from just one platform. Usually this feature is in the form of a web like Gemini and ChatGPT.
The development of increasingly advanced digital media means that humans cannot escape from artificial intelligence (AI). Data privacy issues are a concern for everyone in digital media because they can lead to many crimes. Such as doxing and leaks of personal data that can result in theft, threats, or crimes in the real world.
Data privacy issues also cannot be avoided by the latest features on the Meta company platform. This is a concern that must be considered because it concerns users' personal data. The Meta company has had problems related to privacy issues in various countries, one of which is Spain.
At the end of 2023, Meta was sued by media owners in Spain. Among them is AMI, an association whose 80 members are publishers. They sued Meta for privacy violations with a compensation value of US$ 600 million (Rp. 9.3 trillion). The lawsuit began because of Meta's systematic negligence in not complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union.
This is not the first time Meta has been involved, since 2018 AMI has filed many lawsuits against the Meta company. However, the Meta company has not changed. This is exacerbated by Meta's advertising policy which violates privacy rules in the European Union. AMI argues that the privacy and consumer rights offered to users by Meta are illegal and unfair.
