TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) Chair Erick Thohir thanked Shin Tae-yong through his social media accounts on Saturday, January 11.
"Thank you, coach Shin Tae Yong for everything you have done for the Indonesian National Team. Now, it's time for coach Patrick Kluivert to start a new chapter in Indonesian football," Erick wrote on his Instagram account, @erickthohir.
In the same post, Erick Thohir welcomed Kluivert.
"Now it's time to welcome coach Patrick Kluivert to start a new chapter in Indonesian football," Erick said.
In another post, Erick also welcomed the Indonesian National Team coaching team, who arrived on Saturday, January 11.
“Welcome Patrick Kluivert, Alex Pastoor, and Denny Landzaat. This is the new coaching team of the Indonesian National Team. Let’s work hard together and give our best to realize the dream of Garuda Mendunia. Let’s go!”
PSSI announced the dismissal of Shin Tae-yong as coach of the Indonesian National Team on Monday, January 6, his position has now been replaced by Dutch football legend Patrick Kluivert.
Shin Tae-yong has been serving as coach of the Indonesian National Team since 2020.
The South Korean coach expressed his gratitude via his personal social media. He also thanked PSSI, especially Erick Thohir as the General Chairperson.
"First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Erick Thohir, the General Chairperson of PSSI, who has given great support to our Indonesian team in this position. If it were not for the General Chairperson, we would never have reached the position we are in now," he wrote on Saturday.
Shin Tae-yong hopes that Indonesia can achieve maximum results in future matches and qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
"My deepest gratitude and appreciation to the players. We must qualify for the 2026 World Cup. I hope that the players can appear on the World Cup stage."
