TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Free Nutritious Meal Program for school children and pregnant women will start rolling tomorrow, Monday, January 6, 2025. The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana ensured that the price per portion of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program is not always fixed at Rp10,000 as has been set by the government.
"The price per portion of the Free Nutritious Meal varies in each region," he said when contacted by Tempo, Sunday, January 5, 2024. The Professor of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) University has not responded further regarding the estimated price of President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program for each region.
Regarding the detailed number of school children and pregnant women targeted by this program, Dadan also could not comment. He said he would first report the details of the program's targets to the DPR tomorrow, Monday.
In this program, which is budgeted at Rp71 trillion from the state budget (APBN), Dadan once needed a budget of Rp800 billion per day. This program will reach 82.9 million recipients and spend a budget of Rp400 trillion if fully implemented.
"If this program is running, the National Nutrition Agency will spend Rp1.2 trillion every day for future human resource investment. Around 75 percent of the Rp1.2 trillion is for the Free Nutritious Meal intervention, approximately Rp800 billion every day," said Dadan in early October 2024.
Meanwhile, the National Nutrition Agency's System and Governance Working Group Team Niken Gandini said the government would provide 3 million portions of free nutritious meals in the first three months. "Later it will increase twice, in April it will increase by 6 million," said Niken in mid-October 2024.
