TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto will reveal his cabinet formation on Sunday evening, October 20, 2024. “Most likely tonight at the Palace,” Dasco said in a voicemail to Tempo.
The plan to announce the cabinet on Sunday night was initially disclosed by the General Secretary of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Central Jakarta on Saturday, October 19. Muzani mentioned that Prabowo would make the announcement on Sunday evening.
Prabowo had summoned ministerial candidates, deputy minister candidates, and other prospective officials on separate occasions at Kertanegara Street, South Jakarta. A total of 49 people were summoned on Monday, October 14. The following day, the chief patron of the Gerindra Party received 59 individuals.
The former son-in-law of Soeharto, Indonesia’s 2nd president, then provided guidance to ministerial and deputy ministerial candidates during the "Hambalang Retreat" from Wednesday to Thursday, October 16 to 17.
Prabowo offered guidance to presidential aide candidates on public communication, anti-corruption, geopolitics, artificial intelligence, and how to deal with journalists.
Tempo obtained a list of potential ministers who might be entrusted by Prabowo. These names aligned with the individuals Prabowo had summoned to Kertanegara and those who attended the "Hambalang Retreat."
Some of these potential ministers were party chairpersons or senior officials of the parties supporting Prabowo in the Indonesian Advanced Coalition, such as Bahlil Lahadalia, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Zulkifli Hasan, and Yusril Ihza Mahendra.
There were also several individuals close to Prabowo who were members of the Gerindra Party, including Sugiono, Prasetyo Hadi, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Supratman Andi Agtas.
Several of Prabowo's ministerial candidates were currently serving in Jokowi's Cabinet, including State Secretary Minister Pratikno, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, and Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.
Dasco neither denied nor confirmed when Tempo asked for a list of names that were likely to fill Prabowo's cabinet. He only mentioned that there were several different versions of the composition and it was unclear where they originated from. “I don't want to comment,” he said in a short message to Tempo on Saturday, October 19.
