TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Greenpeace UK activists staged a protest against the United States government's support for Israel in the Gaza genocide. The rally involved several individuals pouring 300 liters of blood-red dye into the pool at the U.S. Embassy in London on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

The activists highlighted the massacre and widespread destruction occurring in Gaza. Their protest specifically pointed out the United States' role in providing weaponry to Israel, which has been engaged in efforts to occupy Gaza.

A video shared on Greenpeace International's Instagram account depicted activists carrying boxes of red paint marked with the words "Stop Arming Israel." They proceeded to empty these containers into the embassy's pool, visibly transforming the water into a stark red color.

"The US is fuelling the unfolding genocide in Gaza," Greenpeace International said in a post on their @greenpeace account.

Furthermore, on their official website, Greenpeace emphasized the ongoing supply of arms from the U.S. to Israel under President Donald Trump, noting the approval of military sales amounting to nearly US$12 billion since January. Greenpeace also pointed out that the U.S. provides approximately two-thirds of all of Israel's imported weaponry.

Greenpeace asserted that the United States bears a responsibility to halt the violence, given their previous involvement in enforcing a ceasefire in February.

Beyond the U.S., Greenpeace also directed criticism towards the United Kingdom government regarding its contribution to the genocide in Gaza. They condemned the UK government's continued practice of selling arms to Israel and urged Prime Minister Keir Starmer to cease these exports.

In a separate statement, Greenpeace Indonesia reported that the UK has sold nearly £500 million worth of military equipment to Israel since 2015.

Greenpeace Indonesia acknowledged that the UK government temporarily suspended 30 out of its 350 arms export licenses to Israel last September. However, they highlighted that critical components for F-35 fighter jets were not included in this suspension, a decision that has elicited strong criticism.

The UK's position stands in contrast to several other Western nations that have decided to halt arms supplies to Israel.

"Countries like Spain, Canada, Belgium, and the Netherlands have all banned weapons sales to Israel since the start of the war in Gaza. Stop the genocide happening in Palestine, stop arming Israel!" Greenpeace Indonesia noted in an Instagram post on @greenpeaceid.

Greenpeace Indonesia further confirmed that the red dye utilized in the protest was environmentally safe and readily biodegradable, posing no toxic risks to the environment.
