TEMPO.CO, JakartaInvestment Minister Rosan Roeslani has set an investment target of Rp13,032 trillion for the 2025-2029 period. This target aims to drive economic growth to 8% by 2029.

“In 2025, the investment is expected to reach Rp1,905 trillion, with a total investment from 2025 to 2029 projected to exceed Rp13,000 trillion, specifically Rp13,032 trillion. This target was presented to the President,” he stated in a press statement at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

This investment influx is expected to generate quality jobs and serve as a driving force of national economic growth. “This is particularly crucial to achieving the 8% economic growth target set by the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas),” he emphasized.

Downstream industries are poised to play a pivotal role in attracting investment to Indonesia. Rosan expressed hope that the contribution of investment to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), currently ranging between 24-25%, can be significantly increased.

Rosan also highlighted the outcome of his recent visit to China, which yielded investment commitments of US$7.46 billion from four companies. These investments will be directed towards various sectors, including fiberglass, solar panels, and fisheries.

“For example, BYD, which has already acquired land in the Subang area, is expected to commence manufacturing operations early next year,” he noted.

Apart from China, Indonesia anticipates significant investment inflows from the United States, the Middle East, and other countries. While acknowledging the challenging nature of this target, Minister Rosan emphasized the critical importance of strong inter-ministerial collaboration and coordination to achieve this goal.

“This is not an easy task. This is a very tough job so cooperation and coordination from all related ministries are expected,” Rosan emphasized.

With this investment target, the government is optimistic about its ability to strengthen the national economy, create jobs, and solidify Indonesia's position as a highly competitive investment destination on the global stage.
