TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) announced that the trade balance in October 2025 recorded a surplus of US$2.39 billion. Therefore, the trade balance has recorded a surplus for 66 consecutive months since May 2025.
"The surplus in October is mainly supported by a surplus in non-oil and gas commodities of US$4.31 billion," said Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics of BPS Pudji Ismartini during a press conference on Monday, December 1, 2025. The main surplus-contributing commodities are animal or vegetable fats and oils (HS 15), mineral fuels (HS 27), and iron and steel (HS 72).
Meanwhile, the trade balance of oil and gas commodities recorded a deficit of US$1.92 billion. This deficit is contributed to by crude oil and oil products. Cumulatively, from January to October 2025, the trade balance experienced a surplus of US$35.88 billion. This surplus was triggered by a non-oil and gas sector surplus of US$51.51 billion, while the oil and gas sector recorded a deficit of US$15.63 billion.
BPS recorded that Indonesia's export value in October reached US$24.24 billion. This figure decreased by 2.31 percent year-on-year compared to October 2024. Exports of non-oil and gas products also fell by 0.51 percent from the same period last year, to $23.34 billion. However, year-to-date, Indonesia's export value from January to October 2025 reached US$234.04 billion, an increase of 6.96 percent compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, Indonesia's import value in October 2025 reached US$21.84 billion. This figure decreased by 1.15 percent compared to October 2024. Conversely, non-oil and gas imports increased by 3.26 percent to US$19.03 billion. From January to October of 2025, imports increased by 2.19 percent compared to the same period the previous year, reaching US$198.16 billion.
