TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Finance Ministry has announced that the country's bid to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will require funding of €13.62 million, or approximately Rp245.26 billion (calculated at an exchange rate of Rp18,000 per Euro). This figure was disclosed by Masyita Crystallin, the Ministry's Director General of Financial Sector Stability and Development, during a hearing with the House of Representatives Commission XI on Monday, July 14, 2025.
"The specific funding needed for this accession is €13.62 million, or Rp245.26 billion, which can be paid in three installments," Masyita said at the Parliament Complex.
The total cost will be disbursed over the 2024-2026 period, with payments of Rp50.99 billion in 2024, Rp105.26 billion in 2025, and Rp89.01 billion in 2026.
Initially, the OECD accession costs were allocated to the Fiscal Policy Agency's budget. However, following a restructuring, these funds will now be managed by the Financial Sector Stability and Development DG. An OECD accession team has been established under Presidential Decree No. 17 of 2024, chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs.
Indonesia has already submitted its Initial Memorandum to the OECD. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, presented the document during the ministerial-level meeting of the OECD Council 2025 in Paris, France, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
"This moment is certainly crucial as Indonesia is the first Southeast Asian country to initiate the accession process and complete the Initial Memorandum," Airlangga said during a virtual press conference from Paris on Wednesday evening, June 4, 2025. The OECD currently comprises 38 member countries.
According to Airlangga, the accession process to becoming a member generally takes years, often ranging from five to ten. He cited Argentina as an example, noting that it submitted its Initial Memorandum in 2022 and is still undergoing the accession process.
