TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Meutya Hafid, Indonesia's Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, has proposed that Oman and Indonesia expand their digital cooperation, particularly through investments in digital infrastructure.
"In the current era of rapid development of technology, both Oman and Indonesia have a big opportunity to cooperate more closely in advancing digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and fostering innovation," she said, according to a press release issued by the ministry on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
She made the remarks while representing the Indonesian government at the commemoration of the 54th National Day of Oman in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The Indonesian government and the Sultanate of Oman have enjoyed diplomatic relations for more than four decades.
Cooperation has been established between the two countries in the political, cultural, economic, and social fields.
Hafid said that the Indonesia-Oman partnership in the digital sector will help create innovative solutions for overcoming global challenges.
"Through this partnership, we believe that Indonesia and Oman can help each other in utilizing technology to drive economic growth, improve governance, and improve the overall quality of life for the community," the minister added.
The minister expressed the hope that the cooperation can be beneficial for both countries and set an example for other countries in optimizing digital technology to achieve development goals.
At the commemoration event on Tuesday, Minister Hafid congratulated the people of Oman on their 54th National Day.
"Hopefully, this special day marks another year of prosperity, peace, and happiness for the Sultanate and the people," she remarked.
